Tastey Healthy Food - Review by gaz

the chips are definately better than oven chips, not quite as good as deep fried though, id give them about 7 out of 10 but of course alot more healthier. chips are better thick cut although the thicker you cut them the more they come out like oven baked potato, i have also had no problems using the cheaper supermarket white potatoes as opposed to the more expensive maris pipers. i find a kilo is a plate of chip for 2 people, it wouldnt be very much for four people but this suits me ok. i also think there is no need to peel the potatoes either, this save alot of time and is healthier.

on a sidenote tefal claim any oil can be used although they endorse a certain brand of olive oil throughout the instruction book and ive read the american version said not to use olive oil which would make more sense as it burns at lower temperature as youll see if you shallow fry with olive oil.

the recipe book is hit and miss, ive tried about 10 recipes, some are just too eleborate, the chicken and pineapple wasnt very nice and the mixed vegetables had far too much stock in which didnt thinken so it was very watery, and again not very nice. meat cooks nicely in it just like chips, tender on the inside and cooked evenly on the outside, fruit (stawberries, apple setc) is also nice but not really any different to baking them in the oven just more convienient.

overall im glad i have the Actifry despite its plasticey build and relative high price as it can cook other things well apart from chips. its good that things like this are being developed to help make health eating easier with the busy lives we have.
